New year, new challenges. We are continuing to work on three sites in Scotland earmarked for land remediation works to facilitate redevelopment. We have another eight sites lined up for solar energy powered EV charging stations and have just been appointed on three major school developments, including a prestigious scheme in London sponsored by Imperial College. It is starting off to be another exciting year and we look forward to realising our clients’ development ambitions in a positive and proactive way.

Sutton Academy Solarcatchers
New instructions over this period include planning applications for the proposed remediation of three former gas works/holder sites in Scotland; proposed school developments via the DfE MMC framework in Leeds, Gillingham (Kent) and Barnet; and major planned housing developments in Enfield, Tower Hamlets (x 3 sites) and Thurrock.  On behalf of Grid 2, we have recently secured planning permission on applications to Ashfield District Council for the first of a major planned UK-wide roll-out of solar energy powered electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure aimed at reducing the increasing Grid dependency of the more traditional pedestal-based installations. The proposed canopy installations would provide 28 charging points in the main car parks serving the Sutton Community Academy in Sutton-in-Ashfield and we are grateful to the Council for openly embracing these exciting plans and acting as the pioneering and enabling decision-making authority in this process. Following the culmination of 18 months of work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary project team, we have submitted a planning application to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for a major estate regeneration scheme in the borough providing 412 dwellings in a series of buildings ranging in height from 4-8 storeys with related infrastructure, including replacement community use provision. The proposed development has been informed by extensive local community and stakeholder consultation, including the GLA.

Harriot/Apsley/Pattison Houses
On instructions from the London Borough of Waltham Forest, we have undertaken a town planning assessment examining the potential development implications of a major housing development planned in the vicinity of a large utility sewage/wastewater installation. Development appraisals have been undertaken for proposed housing developments on sites in Leeds, Reading, Uxbridge, Upminster and Enfield with subsequent Council engagements for pre-application advice. Planning permissions have been secured for school developments in Norwich, Hornchurch, Barking and Broxbourne with work continuing on a planned 400 unit estate regeneration scheme in Tower Hamlets.
