The site consisted of open land extending to 3.7 hectares situated on the northern edge of Plymouth at Bickleigh Down within the administrative areas of Plymouth City Council and South Hams District Council. The Councils were engaged on a proposal to create the UK’s first large-scale, zero carbon housing development consisting of predominantly family sized accommodation including integrated solar roofs. The scheme also involved creating a green employment hub including an assembly building for the manufacturing of the modular wall panels of the housing.
